Welcome and introduction
Welcome in the Bonsai-Studio Janssen-Koopmans.
You will see the world of dwarf-trees, called Bonsai
Origin and meaning
The basic ideas and techniques find their roots in Japan and China.
Buddhist monks used Bonsai as a meditation technique and as therapy for the
soul.
Bonsai was not practised in Europe until 1972, when a few British introduced
Bonsai in this continent.
Now 20 years later there are thousands of Bonsai-lovers over the continent and
Great Britain.
As you can see Bonsai is a small tree in a pot, and that is exactly the
translation of the Japanese word Bonsai; ¨ tree in a pot.
The pot, the trunk and the leafs, they form a unity according to nature.
Sorts of Bonsai.
There are two kinds of Bonsai: the inside- and outside bonsai.
Inside Bonsai.
First I will tell you something about these insidebonsai.
The insidebonsai are all trees from the tropic and sub-tropic areas.
Therefore in our climate, they can't survive outside during the winter because
they can't stand frost or even low temperature.
So we keep them inside only in summertime, when the temperature is all right we
put them eventually outside.
